Own A Grocery Store Controls and UI
Floor pads, right-side icons, stocking, cash piles, and animal feeding on desktop and mobile.
Own A Market is a walk-and-buy tycoon, not a hotkey combat game. Almost every unlock is a pad on the floor or an icon on the right of the screen. This page is the control map for Own A Grocery Store: what to stand on, which buttons open Markets / Upgrades / Rebirth, how cash piles work, and how chickens and cows actually produce.
New players should pair this with Getting Started. Spend order lives on the upgrades tier list and products tier list. If a pad looks expensive, check Make Money Fast before you skip production for decor.
Movement and buying pads
On desktop, use the usual Roblox WASD or arrow keys and mouse-look. On mobile, use the thumb stick and camera swipe. There is no separate “buy” key for store unlocks. You stand on a floor pad.
Pads are color-coded:
- Green — you can afford this unlock right now. Stay on it to purchase the path, machine, worker, animal, shelf, or decoration it names.
- Red — you cannot buy it yet, usually because you lack cash. The label still shows the price, which is useful for planning.
Walk the whole plot after every big purchase. New pads often appear behind a path you just opened, on a second floor, or beside an animal pen. Missing a green pad is the most common “I am stuck” report; you are rarely gated by a hidden quest.
Hiring is the same action as buying a shelf: stand on the worker pad. Cashiers mind the register, farmers help with crops such as corn, and later chefs handle processed lines (chocolate, peanut butter, and similar stations). You still need to keep inputs flowing; a hired worker cannot cook empty air.
Right-side icons: Markets, Upgrades, Rebirth
Three icons on the right side of the HUD matter more than any keyboard bind.
Markets opens the store switcher. Grocery Store 1 is the starting plot (bananas, corn, milk, eggs, popcorn, yogurt, and the rest of that line). Grocery Store 2 costs $30,000 and adds wheat, bread, seafood, and related goods. Tap Markets, confirm the spend, then teleport. Do not open store 2 the moment you can scrape $30k—finish store 1 first, as the unlock store 2 guide explains.
Upgrades is the stat shop for animals, workers, and yourself. Typical stats are speed (how fast they move or produce) and stack (how many items they carry). Chickens and cows also gain capacity so they hold more corn. Upgrade the bottleneck you feel: if you can carry only one banana while customers queue, stack yourself; if the farmer crawls, upgrade the farmer; if eggs stall, upgrade the chicken before you buy another cosmetic plant.
Rebirth shows the current cash requirement and the goldify promise. Confirming it resets money and pad progress in exchange for more valuable products. Read the rebirth planner and Rebirth guide before you tap Yes. The button does not warn you about a half-finished store 2.
Daily rewards and Gifts use their own UI prompts. Claim them whenever they appear. Like the experience and join the group for the advertised free cash. The codes page is still empty—there is no redemption box to mash.
Cash piles, stocking, and animals
Customers pay into cash piles on the floor. Walk into them (or otherwise collect them) or you will stand on a red pad with money sitting three studs away. Piles are easy to miss behind counters and animal pens; do a lap after a rush.
Stocking is pick-up then drop-off:
- Take produce from the tree, plot, machine, fridge, or animal output.
- Carry it to the matching shelf, stand, or carton.
- Repeat until the display is full. Empty shelves mean customers wait and income dies.
Animals are not decorations. Chickens eat corn and lay eggs. Cows eat corn and give milk. If corn is late, you starve two SKUs at once. Drop corn into the feeder / trough, then collect eggs and milk for their shelves. Later processors (yogurt, popcorn, and so on) need those inputs too, so the corn plot is not optional flavor.
Desktop versus mobile
Desktop is easier for camera control when you are lining up a pad against a shelf. Mobile works, but the HUD icons are smaller and it is easier to walk off a green pad before the purchase registers. On a phone:
- Stop fully on the pad and wait for the buy to complete.
- Zoom out when hunting cash piles.
- Open Markets / Upgrades / Rebirth with a deliberate tap so you do not rebirth from a mis-tap.
- If the joystick fights the camera in a busy six-player server, use a free VIP server so the plot is yours.
Public servers hold six plots. Other players cannot run your pads, but their animals and customers still cost frames. Lag feels like “the pad did not buy.” It usually did not register the stand time.
If a control seems broken
Cannot buy a pad: check cash piles, then color. Red means poor, not bugged. Already-owned pads disappear or stop charging.
No eggs or milk: feed corn. Upgrade chicken/cow stack if the trough empties faster than you can restock.
Markets will not open store 2: you need $30,000 in pocket, not lifetime earnings.
Rebirth greyed or expensive: the requirement scales. After updates, always re-read the icon; costs have been in the $50,000 range for the first goldify and higher after that.
If you would rather automate collecting, that is a script decision—see auto-collect and the Scripts Hub—not a missing keybind. The intended controls are move, stand, pick up, put down, and tap the three right-side icons.
Spend five minutes on a quiet VIP plot just walking pads in a spiral from the register outward. Name every green pad out loud once. After that, the UI stops being the bottleneck and the Players Hub playstyle choices take over.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Own A Grocery Store on Roblox.
How do I buy upgrades or hire workers?
Stand on the green floor pad for that hire or machine. Stat upgrades for animals, workers, and yourself are on the Upgrades icon at the right of the screen.
Where is Grocery Store 2?
Open the Markets icon on the right HUD and spend $30,000. Details and timing are in Unlock Grocery Store 2.
What do chickens and cows eat?
Corn. Chickens lay eggs; cows produce milk. No corn means those shelves stay empty even if you hired a farmer.
Is there a codes button in the UI?
Not at the time of writing. Claim Dailies, Gifts, and like-plus-group cash instead, and watch codes after patches.
Why did Rebirth wipe my store?
That is the trade: products goldify and progress plus cash reset. Use the rebirth planner before you confirm.
